I am a creative emerging designer who graduated from the university of technology sydney with a bachelor of design in fashion and textiles (honours). I like working in competitive, challenging environments for brands that want to set trends and stay ahead of the market. I like clothes that are young, fun, and glam with a focus on craft and quality
I have a strong interest in menswear and like to discuss masculinity through my work. This can be seen in the thesis I completed for my honours degree at uts which looked at how intimacy and connection could be centred in mens’ everyday lives through fashion. Though menswear is a passion, it is a smaller segment of the fashion industry, and I still have real experience and passion for working in womenswear
Handcraft is a strong element of my practice, and I have extensive experience with couture-level hand-sewing. The labour and work that goes into fashion is something that I really respect and value, and makes up part of my thesis where I argue that it creates an intimacy between the maker and wearer. In my honours collection, there were several half-tone screenprints all done by hand, and all fabrics were hand-dyed with a mix of acid/reactive dyes. My work at J. Andreatta shows extensive experience hand-sewing draping, lace, beading, embroidering etc as well as various hand-sewn finishings used in a couture workplace. Through honours and working at J. Andreatta, I have experience working with adobe creative suite to make CADs, specs, techpacks etcas well as in pattern-making menswear shapes, often from scratch without blocks
